Pesticides in Cannabis: Types and Testing

There are two significant reasons why you should complete comprehensive, accurate cannabis pesticide testing in Oklahoma: the test is now required by law and consumers are looking for the most trustworthy providers. Don’t skip this test or the benefits it can bring to your business.

Cannabis Pesticide Testing is the Law

As the cannabis industry grows and changes, the laws and regulations shift as well. It can be hard to keep up and know if you are in compliance. PureLabs will let you know if your products are within the regulations, and if they meet state pesticide level requirements.

As part of our Oklahoma Compliance Tests, we test for thirteen common pesticides:

  • Avermectin B1a
  • Avermectin B1b
  • Azoxystrobin
  • Bifenazate
  • Etoxazole
  • Imazalil
  • Imidacloprid
  • Malathion
  • Myclobutanil
  • Permethrin
  • Spinosad A
  • Spinosad B
  • Spiromesifen
  • Spirotetramat
  • Tebuconazole

After the product is tested, you will receive a complete report of our findings as documentation for inspecting agencies, as well as show to customers if they have questions about a products’ purity.

How Cannabis Pesticide Testing Works

Pesticide testing has only recently become a legal requirement, and with that comes regulations for labs. PureLabs was one of the first labs to be licensed by the state of Oklahoma for cannabis pesticide testing.

When testing cannabis for pesticides, we follow strict protocols throughout the process to protect your sample and to get the most accurate results. Our testing is done using a High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) machine by highly experienced scientists. Included in our tests is confirmation testing.

Confirmation testing happens when the test results show that a pesticide is present, but the ratios between the precursor and the products are not what is expected. “This confirmation testing is key to producing accurate results and not failing batches when dealing with closely related chemicals.” So, we not only test for pesticides, but we test any discrepancies to guarantee that the results you receive are accurate.

The PureLabs Difference

At PureLabs, our mission is to provide the most accurate, expedited, and consistent laboratory services for all Oklahoma cannabis cultivators, extract producers and infused product manufacturers at a great price. How do we do this?

We plan on being your go-to cannabis testing lab for a long time. That’s why we have built our Cannabis Testing Laboratory to meet current Good Manufacturing Practices with the goal of being ISO/IEC 17025 Certified within a year.

Accurate tests have to be completed in a tightly controlled environment, and that is exactly what PureLabs offers. Humidity and temperature levels are closely monitored to keep the samples safe and our instruments working at peak performance. We have multiple processes to prevent cross-contamination between samples, instruments, glassware, and in the air. We even transport and store your samples in temperature-controlled environments to protect your samples until testing. It is because of all of this oversight that we can guarantee our cannabis pesticide testing results.

Keep Your Customers Happy

Accurate testing will keep you on the right side of laws and regulations, but it also instills trust in your customers. Because in the end, it all comes down to people purchasing your product and coming back for more.

More than ever, people want to know what they are putting in their bodies. Health-conscious consumers are looking for natural solutions, and poor quality or contaminated products won’t stand up to their scrutiny. With a thorough, accurate test report done by a licensed laboratory, you can guarantee the quality of your products.

Cannabis Testing Keeps People Safe

For those that are turning to cannabis as medicine, purity is of even more concern. Contaminants such as pesticides, mycotoxins, or heavy metals can affect the efficiency of your products, but can also be harmful. Immunocompromised people must be especially careful of what they put into their bodies. By doing accurate testing, you are providing the best products, while showing that you take your customers’ health seriously.

Cannabis pesticide testing is only one of the tests that we provide at PureLabs, because we are a full-service lab. You shouldn’t have to send your samples to various labs to complete your compliance requirements. We perform all of the tests needed to help you stay compliant with the law, while you build lasting customer relationships built on trust and quality products.
